Abstract

When working out, people very often listen to music. It is an easy way to get motivated and pumped up for and during a workout. Most people tend to have a designated list of songs used for their work out because some music matches certain levels of performance better than other music. The RevItUp mobile application aims to aid the selection of workout music by the following methods: increasing/decreasing the intensity of the music depending on the intensity of the workout; playing music that has the same rhythm as the workout (e.g. rowing); and a future goal of adjusting the music to sync with the user’s heartbeat. These methods require minimal input from the user, to decrease focus taken away from the actual workout. These methods of integrating the music into the workout are expected to improve the performance and enjoyment during the workout.
